Part Thirteen – Where things heat up and cool down
“How long have you known him?” Lisa wanted the pieces of the puzzle.
“About seven years now, but he has always had a problem with spirits. We moved here to get away from the haunting. Now they seem to have come along.”
With apprehension, Lisa said,
“We are opening soon.”
She knew this was the universe that had made them move this close to her. This was a disaster for her ordinary dream.
The dead woman looked at Lisa the entire time. Tell them you can see, talk to, and hear me. “TELL THEM!”
Lisa tried to ignore her but knew she had to communicate with her at some point.
Outside later, Lisa thought, and the dead woman said agreed
The first customers were working people who only wanted coffee and tea. They had become regulars, Emily had told her. They had their laptops and worked for hours.
Then Lydia and Agnes came. As always, they were louder than others and had a ball.
“Dear Lisa, please come talk to us, Agnes said once they sat down. Have you changed your mind, dear?”
“No, I haven’t, but I will let you know if I do.” Lisa smiled because they planned to show up every day. She knew that.
They had cake and coffee, and it was sweet, but they were set on changing Lisa’s mind.
When Lisa came to collect the plates, Agnes once again asked:
“Have you changed your mind, dear?”
And once again, Lisa said
“No, I haven’t, but I will let you know if I do.”
This will feel like Groundhog Day. If this continues, Lisa laughed as she took the plates to the kitchen. On the way back, she looked in on Theo. After carefully knocking on the door, she walked into the room. It was not messy, but not tidy.
“Are you ok? You looked pretty scared back there, so I just wanted to ensure you were ok.” Lisa tried her best to smile.
“I am just tired from dealing with dead people who tease me,” he said.
“It is scary because I cannot see them, and I don’t know what they want from me” he bowed his head.
“I am sure they don’t want anything bad,” she said and left because he did not raise his head and said nothing.
“I must figure out what that woman wants,” she thought as she walked back to the counter and Emily.
“Can I take a 10-minute break?” she asked, and Emily said, “of course?” looking like she wanted to know what was going on.
She went outside through the back door.
“Ok, lay it on me,” she said without looking for other people first, so an old man walking past said, “Lay what on you,” and Lisa laughed loudly.
“Sorry, I was talking to myself,” she told him, her cheeks flushing.
To surprise people like that, she scolded herself.
“So,” she said, once the man had left,
“lay it on me, dead woman, who are you, and so on.”
The dead woman and a man appeared in front of Lisa.
“So you come in a pair now?” she said sternly.
“You scared the man half to death, so tell me what is going on.”
The dead woman started.
“I am Jen, and this is Albert. I knew Theodore when he was a child and in his teens, and so did Albert. I know I said he killed someone, and someone was me. Albert cut in. He killed me, ME ME.” Albert was getting on Lisa’s nerves.
“Would you be quiet already?” she raised her voice.
A woman who passed by looked at Lisa with a weird face but walked on.
“Look what you made me do, you crazy people!” Lisa was getting annoyed.
“Look!!” she said now in a very harsh tone,
“I am your hope for communication, so would you just tell me what happened, or are you so filled with old ego patterns?”
Both Jen and Albert looked at her and realized she was right.
“NOW!” Lisa was getting angry.
“Ok, ok,” Jen said.
“So one day, we were in the forest, and we played hide and seek. We all hid in different places. Theodore was the one who should be finding people. Theodore was close to Albert, so when Albert tried to move, he tripped, hit his head, and fell. He died from the fall.”
“Yes, I died from the fall, and it was all Theo’s fault.”
Lisa was getting furious now.
“Have you learned nothing up there with God? Are you still hanging on to stupid ego talk? What is this, kindergarten? Pull yourself together. Did he push you? Did he Kick you? Did he in any way touch you? It cannot be Theo’s fault that you chose to move and fell. It was your choice and your actions. How do you reckon that is his fault?”
Her angel came to their side.
“Therefore, we sent him to you because you, of all people, do not beat around the bush at all. He has not learned anything when we have told him.”
“OMG!” Lisa said, exasperated, “Are you an idiot? Were you like this when you were alive? I get so tired.”
Albert looked at her and said
“What do you mean?”
Jen was right in his words;
“Don’t yell at him. He is the one who was killed.”
“Are you seriously kidding me?” Lisa was not taking this nonsense very well.
“So, what you two imbeciles are saying is that it is Theo’s fault because he almost found you, and you chose an action that eventually killed you. It is his fault.
How can your choice to move to be his fault? Can you please explain? He did not take a knife to you or run you over. He just almost won the game.”
Albert bowed his head and looked at the ground.
“You are right,” he whispered.
“I see that when you put it like that. I had not let go of my ego, but I see how I have to change that mindset.”
Jen was just about to speak when Lisa cut her off.
“And you, woman, should be ashamed! Running along with an untrue story powered by ego. Shame on you.”.
Lisa was fuming. Her angel placed a hand on her shoulder, causing healing to flow through her body.
“I am taking over here. Thank you, Lisa.”
“I am going inside again, but don’t you two come running again unless I ask you to come!”
“I am sorry,” Albert said, and they all vanished.
Lisa tutted and went inside.
